An architect to plan the future of the former AK Steel factory – Butler Eagle

Nearing the end of demolition, Butler County and others are looking to turn the former AK Steel Plant 2 site into a hub for business.
On January 19, Butler County Commissioners approved a contract with urban architectural firm Moss Architects to help design the future Bantam Avenue industrial site for future use.

“We received a grant from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and we are developing a reuse plan for the area, and we are looking for manufacturers to return to the area on the approximately 40-acre parcel,” Joe said. . The county grant, a $600,000 award from the EPA’s Brownfields Program, is intended to help Butler County and other stakeholders assess, clean up and reuse properties contaminated with hazardous substances.
