Dynamos too strong for Yadah as FC Platinum wins again
By Sports Reporter
HARARE giants Dynamos recovered from last week’s poor start to shatter four unanswered goals in front of Yadah in a Group A Super Cup clash in Chibuku on Saturday at National Sports Stadium.
New signing Shadreck Nyahwa had a memorable start after scoring a brace that included a wonderful strike from the halfway line.
The goal could easily become the goal of the competition.
Nyahwa, a former Bulawayo Chiefs midfielder who missed Dynamos’ opener of the season because he was not yet registered, opened the scoring with a well-taken inside finish in the ninth minute to give Tonderai Ndiraya’s men a perfect start.
DeMbare quickly doubled his lead in the 21st minute thanks to Albert Eonde’s curling effort after dispossessing Tinotenda Mutyambizi of Yadah.
Godknows Murwira scored the team’s third with an astonishing long-range strike that hit the top 40-yard corner.
Nyahwa couldn’t be outdone, however, as he capped off a memorable start by completing his brace with his long-range strike from the center line that brought up memories of Tapuwa Kapini’s strike of his own half for the Highlanders against Caps United in the same location in 2004.
The victory propelled the Dynamos to the top of Group A with four points ahead of Yadah, CAPS United, Harare City and ZPC Kariba, who are all on one point.
Ndiraya was happy with the result, but believes his team were still making progress despite the comfortable victory.
“It was tough for us last week, we had to play a lot against a team that we weren’t preparing with, but this week we got some of those players back and we had pretty much the same team that played against the Highlanders in the Independence Cup.
“It’s still early days, of course, I’m happy with the result, but the performance is not really where we want it to be, but I think with more time, more practice and more matches and in fitness we can improve, ”Ndiraya said after the match.
He added: “I have said it many times, we have a good team of players, but these boys need time to play together and it will improve performance in the long run. I am quite happy and impressed with the result, ”he said.
In the other high-profile game of the day, FC Platinum continued their strong start after scoring a goal to beat Triangle United 2-1 at Mandava Stadium.
Young Warriors forward Delic Murimba put Triangle ahead in the eighth minute with a long-range volley that beat FC Platinum goalkeeper Petros Mhari.
FC Platinum however continued to push for the equalizer which finally came within the half hour of Stanley Ngala after a great job from Donald Teguru.
Rodwell Chinyengetere got the spot winner on 78 minutes to bring his tally in the competition to four goals in two matches.
In other results, Bulawayo Chiefs drew 2-2 at Bulawayo City at Barbourfields while army sides Black Rhinos and Cranborne Bullets were content with a goalless draw at Sakubva Stadium.
