Getz Pharma receives the first LEED Platinum certification
Karachi – Getz Pharma Pvt. Ltd. today announced that its new manufacturing facility, named Astola, has received the first LEED Platinum certification for a pharmaceutical plant in South Asia, by the US Green Building Council. Every year, World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 by the United Nations to raise awareness about preventing, stopping and repairing damage to nature. Getz Pharma hosted a live conference on the occasion of World Environment Day on “The Role of the Business Sector in Protecting the Environment”. Discussions were held with Khalid Mahmood, Managing Director and CEO of Getz Pharma, and Hammad Naqi Khan, Managing Director of WWF Pakistan. Emphasizing the need for the business sector to play its role in saving the environment, Khalid Mahmood said: “It is important that we humans continue to remind ourselves that we are not alone on this planet. There is a huge biological ecosystem around us. If we are to live a better and more sustainable life, we must unlearn and relearn to honor the cycle of life. He said the infrastructure for Getz Pharma’s new manufacturing facility – Astola, has been carefully planned and designed to help reduce the company’s overall carbon footprint.
The green building facility will use less energy, passive heating and cooling, which will improve air quality while potentially reducing carbon emissions.
