Quarterly production of steel ingots increases 9% year on year
TEHRAN – Iran’s major steel producers have successfully produced more than 6,183,726 tonnes of steel ingots in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-June 21), recording an increase of 9% year-on-year.
As reported by IRNA, the companies mentioned produced more than 1,842,309 tonnes of steel ingots in the third month of the current year, five percent less than the figure for the same month of the year. previous.
Among the country’s major steel producers, Mobarakeh Steel Company recorded the best performance during the said period, accounting for 43 percent of total steel ingot production; the Company produced 2,685,410 tonnes of the mentioned product.
The highest production growth was recorded by South Kaveh Steel Company with an 80% growth.
The country’s major steel producers also manufactured 3,895,167 tonnes of steel products in the first quarter of the current calendar year, registering a 3% year-over-year increase.
Reinforcing bars, rectangles, belts and coils, wide plates, galvanized plates and beams were the main steel products produced by the companies mentioned.
Meanwhile, major steel producers exported more than 2.78 million tonnes of steel in the said quarter, 128% more than the figure for the same period last year.
The mentioned producers exported more than 916,236 tonnes of steel in the third month of this year, 104% more than the figure for the third month of the previous year.
The largest amount of steel exports were made by the Khuzestan Steel Company with 523,321 tonnes, followed by the Esfahan Steel Company with 315,844 tonnes and the Mobarakeh Steel Company with 267,861 tonnes in second and third place.
The Iranian steel industry has grown steadily over the past few years against all the pressures and obstacles created by outside forces like the US sanctions and the coronavirus epidemic which have severely affected the performance of the world’s major producers.
Last year, Iran’s major steel producers produced more than 22.54 million tonnes of steel ingots in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 20), recording an 8% increase in ‘year after year.
The said companies produced more than 2.04 million tonnes of steel ingots in the last month of the previous year (February 19-March 20), 17% more than the figure for the same month of the year. previous.
Mobarakeh Steel Company recorded the best performance of the previous calendar year with an output of 9.8 million tons of the mentioned product, while the highest production growth was recorded by Sirjan Steel World Company with a growth of 141 %.
Iran is currently the tenth largest steel maker in the world and is expected to climb to seventh place by Iranian calendar year 1404 (March 2025).
