Steel Secretary visits Bokaro Steel Plant
Indian Government Steel Secretary Sanjay Singh arrived in Bokaro late in the evening of 7 October. He was accompanied by Arvind Kumar Singh, Director (Technical, Projects and Raw Materials) of SAIL and G Sarathi Raja, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Steel. On October 8, the Steel Secretary first planted trees in the organic garden and offered prayers at Jagannath Temple. Subsequently, he inquired about the layout of the factory in the model room located in the administration building. During this meeting, the Director in Charge of BSL, Amarendu Prakash, the Director (Technical, Projects and Raw Materials) of SAIL, Arvind Kumar Singh, the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Steel, Shri G. Sarathi Raja and the Executive Director of BSL were also present. . During the factory tour, the Steel Secretary visited the main production units such as Coke Oven, Blast Furnace, SMS-2 (CCS) and Hot Rolling Mill and got to know inquired about the production process.
In the afternoon, the Steel Secretary held a meeting with BSL officials at Bokaro’s residence. During the first meeting with the young managers of the plant, he encouraged the young managers to prepare the steel industry for the challenges of the future and to shape the prospects for the future thanks to new technologies related to Industry 4.0. Later, in another meeting held with BSL senior management, the Steel Secretary reviewed BSL’s carbon footprint reduction roadmap, energy utilization plan renewables, BSL’s digital transformation project, etc.
